"ALBERTAN"

Developed by Robert Erskine

Soft Pink, small dainty flowers, Semi double, Just blooms once 

"AURORA"

The name "Aurora" means Rosie Red and it also means beginning.

Named  by Robert Erskine for the Aurora School

  as the rose was found near it, This was the first rose that Bob named.

Single,  Dark Rosie Red

blooms early in the season, just blooms once.

 

Rose Acicularis species the floral emblem for Alberta

Has larger flowers than most wild roses and different foliage

Aurora usually has just one flower per cluster and is prickly to the end of the branch.

          

 

"BEAUTY OF LEAFLAND"

Developed by Robert Erskine

Pale Bicolor blend of pale pink and pale yellow

 sometimes looks creamy white   Double 25-30 petals

has a very strong Fragrance, just blooms once

Scrolled Buds sort of like a Hybrid T bud which is an unusual form for Scotch Roses

"BETTY WILL"

Developed by Robert Erskine

Pink,  Double, Recurrent, Very Hardy very prickly

a similar cross to Teresa Bugnet but has more flowers and larger ones

 

GEORGE WILL BETTY BLAND

Betty Bland was a pioneer Rose developed by Frank L. Skinner which was

 Rosa Blande X with a Hybrid Perpetual

 

 

 

 

"CARLOS DAWN"

Developed by Robert Erskine

 This is the first Hybrid Rose that Bob raised and Named

semi double (15 petals) bright pink, just blooms once

HANSA X ROSE ACICULARIS (the floral emblem for Alberta)

seed for this rose came from the same seed hip as Bob's "Day Break"   Bob figures that the Hansa flower was pollinated by both of the native wild rose species, Rose Acicularis & Rosa Woodsii.

 

"CARLOS PERPETUAL"

HANSA X ROSA WOODSII

Rosa Woodsii is an Alberta Wild Rose, it blooms later than the

Rose Acicularis , has several roses per cluster and prickles only part way to the end of the stem

 

"DOUBLE CARLOS RED"

CARLOS RED x ATHABASCA

(The Athabasca rose was found in northern Alberta, & believed to be a wild rose.)

"KINISTINO"

Named by Robert Erskine

The English word for the French word that means "Cree."

Bob chose this name because it is a "a Red Native Rose named after a Red Native Man"

Single,  Dark Rosie Red some Scarlet petals

has bigger and rounder leaves than parent plants Superior to Aurora

Aurora is a Rosie red wild rose that Bob found near the Aurora School.

Altia roses come from Altia Mts. In Asia

 

"PRAIRIE PEACE"

Developed by Robert Erskine

named for the Peace Rose because it resembles the Hybrid T "Peace" rose.

Bicolor...sometimes yellow and pink, sometimes pink & yellow,

sometimes Peach color, has a strong fragrance, semi double to Double flowers

Bob has found as many as 50 petals on one flower, 

 Recurring ….. it has one crop of flowers early in the season, and has another later
